China has voiced strong opposition to a proposed U.S. bill that aims to impose sanctions on major purchasers of Russian oil and natural gas, including China. The Chinese government has pledged to take all necessary actions to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its companies, as announced by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.

Lin articulated China’s firm stance against unilateral sanctions, emphasizing that such measures should be rooted in international law and receive authorization from the United Nations Security Council. He criticized the proposed U.S. legislation, which targets the world’s largest buyers of Russian crude oil and natural gas, for not aligning with these principles.

The proposed U.S. sanctions bill has drawn Beijing’s ire, as it could have significant implications for China’s energy imports. Lin cautioned that the use of double standards and coercive tactics would prove to be counterproductive, reiterating China’s condemnation of what it considers unlawful unilateral sanctions.

This development highlights the ongoing tensions between the United States and China over economic policies and international trade practices. As the situation unfolds, both countries continue to navigate the complexities of global energy markets and geopolitical alliances.
