LG Electronics is steering its focus towards robotic actuators and business-to-business appliances, aiming to establish these sectors as new pillars of growth. The company is on the verge of mass-producing actuators that are designed to be both lighter and more cost-effective. As talks with several major global technology firms continue, LG anticipates concluding a significant initial order shortly.
Earlier this year, LG introduced its LG Axium actuator brand, leveraging its extensive experience in motors, drive controls, and component design honed through its home appliance division. Plans are underway to set up a fully automated production line for actuators at the Changwon facility by the year’s end. The company foresees a rise in actuator demand in sync with advancements in physical AI and humanoid robotics, particularly around 2030. Initial deployments of humanoid robots are planned for LG’s Tennessee plant and the Changwon smart factory, with ambitions to extend their use into homes as safety technologies advance.
In parallel, LG is expanding its footprint in the B2B appliance sector. Notably, its built-in appliance and commercial laundry segments have each experienced annual revenue growth exceeding 40% over the past three years. To support this momentum in Europe, LG is bolstering its specialized sales teams, expanding premium built-in brands, and aiming to have products displayed in 3,000 outlets by the close of the year.
Furthermore, LG is enhancing its commercial laundry offerings with machines of larger capacities and is strengthening partnerships across Southeast Asia. The company’s strategy in Europe includes promoting high-efficiency appliances to realize its vision of becoming a leading home appliance brand in the region by 2030.
